Bodoni Font Research

ITC Bodoni Serif is a revived typeface originally created by Giambattista Bodoni.  Bodoni's typeface was from the inspiration of the Baskerville design, but with a sharper outcome. Bodoni's careers included engraving, publishing, and typography.  Bodoni came from a printmaking background, as did his ancestry.  While working as an apprentice for Duke Ferdinand to develop a printing house, he impressed his superiors with his eagerness and willingness to study and learn typefaces and ancient languages.  This showing of his appreciation for his career in type gave him allowance to put his name on the books he developed. The Bodoni Museum opened in Parma, Italy in 1963 for the artist.
